This seven-time Tony award winner tells the story of Eva Perón, a poor Argentinian girl who grew up to become the country’s First Lady. She was 27 when her husband became president, and she devoted herself to helping the impoverished and working class. “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” is among the beautiful, heart-wrenching songs in Evita. Bringing Evita to the stage at A.C.T. of CT is a labor of love for Daniel C. Levine and his cast.

  • "Directed by ACT’s artistic director Daniel C. Levine, what was old is now new again. With the precision of a plastic surgeon, he transforms a former seven-time Tony Award-winning musical into a stunning more youthful, more Latinx, and more relevant production."

    The Ridgefield Press

  • “ACT’s visionary Artistic Director. Daniel C. Levine, enhances his version with awesome precision, impeccable timing and additional Latin instrumentation, assembling a dazzling, versatile ensemble.”

    —Susan Granger

  • “What’s especially unique about Levine’s vision is that the actual staging of his Evita is completely different from that of the West End, Broadway and National Tour productions of the same show. Here, there is a unique closeness not found in big, proscenium theater presentations which gives the piece a timely rawness and realness that is often voyeuristic.”

    —James Ruocco

  • “Directed by ACT’s Artistic Director, Daniel C. Levine, with precise timing and transitions, and a beautifully chosen cast, the show is perfect in so many ways.”

    —Connecticut Critics Circle

  • "No matter how many times you’ve seen “Evita,” this ACT production under the direction of Daniel Levine will open your eyes to just how good this musical can be."

    —Geary Danihy, Connecticut Critics Circle

  • “Director Daniel C. Levine maximizes his minimal set with creative use of several pieces… This production leaves nothing on the mat; it gives every bit of its energy and enthusiasm to a rapt audience.”

    The Newtown Bee

  • "Brought to life under the brilliant direction of Daniel C. Levine... a far superior production than anywhere else I have seen this show!"

    —BroadwayWorld

  • “Director Daniel Levine has successfully laid out his artistic vision of presenting the musical in a more stripped down version... adroitly inserts the character of Che into the center of the Perons’ orbit, which allows the story to be more expansive and finely layered.”

    —Stuart Brown
